Conor Anthony McGregor – Irish fighter

Conor Anthony McGregor is an Irish fighter. He is UFC featherweight and lightweight champion. In July 2016 he took the sixth place among the best fighters in the official UFC pound-for-pound ranking. Sherdog rating puts McGregor on the first place in the featherweight.
Conor McGregor was born on July 14, 1988 in Dublin, Ireland. He has one sister named Erin. As a child he became interested in sports, especially football. McGregor played for the football club Luders Celtic and was a fan of Manchester United.
In 2006 his family moved to Lucan where Conor went to Colaiste Cois Life School. After graduating from school he began studying plumber profession. Later McGregor began to train with future UFC fighter Tom Egan. So McGregor became interested in mixed martial arts. At the age of 16 he joined SBG (Straight Blast Gym).

Impressed by his fights UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) soon signed a contract with him. The debut fight in the new organization took place at UFC on Fuel TV: Mousasi vs. Latifi, where Marcus Brimage became McGregor’s rival. Conor was a winner.
The next fight was at UFC Fight Night 26 where he fought with Max Holloway. McGregor won, however in the middle of the second round he felt a crunch in the knee. Doctors imposed a ban on fights for the next ten months.
After completing medical recovery, McGregor led the main event of UFC Fight Night 46 in his native Dublin. McGregor defeated Brazilian Diego Brandão in the first round.
In UFC 178 McGregor won another victory by TKO. He fought with US fighter Dustin Pore.
A month after the victory over Pore the organization announced UFC Fight Night 59 McGregor vs. German fighter Dennis Siver, where Irishman became the winner.
In 2015 McGregor defeat Chad Mendes and became the UFC interim champion in the featherweight division.
After winning the interim title McGregor took part in the twenty-second season of the reality show The Ultimate Fighter (TUF 22) as coach of the European team.
On December 12, 2015 McGregor defeated Aldo and became a champion.
On April 19, 2016 McGregor announced his retirement, writing about it on Twitter. “I have decided to retire from the sport. Thank you all. See you later”.
On April 21, 2016 McGregor announced on his page on Facebook that was not going to finish his career and was ready to fight at UFC 200”.
On August 20, 2016 in UFC 202: Diaz vs. Mcgregor 2 – McGregor won.
On November 12 at UFC 205 McGregor defeated lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez and became the first two-time champion at the same time in the history of the UFC.
He is known for being the biggest pay-per-view draw in MMA as well as his extravagant lifestyle and trash talking.

Personal life
McGregor has been in a relationship with his girlfriend, Dee Devlin, since 2008. They met in the usual nightclub in Ireland. They are expecting their first child in May 2017.
