Steven Gerrard – English football player
Steven Gerrard is an English football player, who spent most of the club career in Liverpool FC. He is Commander of the Order of the British Empire (MBE). In 2005, Steven was voted player of the year according to the UEFA version and took 3rd place in the vote on the Golden Ball. Zinedine Zidane called him the best player in the world in 2009. In 2010, The Guardian newspaper named the symbolic world all-time team in his honor.
Steven George Gerrard was born on May 30, 1980 in Whiston, Merseyside, United Kingdom.
At the age of 8 he joined Liverpool Academy. In 1998 he made his debut in the first team. At the end of 2000/01 season Gerrard was named the best young player in England.
In 2003 Sami Hyypia handed him captain’s armband. During his career he won two FA Cups, three Football League Cups, two England Super Bowls, and also won the Champions League and the UEFA Cup and two European Super Cups.
At the 2006 World Cup, he was the best scorer of the team with two goals and was voted Player of the Year by the Professional Football players association. The previous “Liverpool”, who received the award, was John Barnes in 1988.
Gerrard played his three hundredth match in the Premier League on April 13, 2008.
His hundredth game in the European Cup, Stephen played on March 10, 2009. He became the captain of the team at 2010 World Cup.
On October 19, 2013 Gerrard scored the 100th goal in Premier League, hitting the gate with a penalty kick. Stephen became the fourth linebacker reached such a result.
On July 21, 2014, Stephen announced his retirement. In total he played 114 matches and scored 21 goals.
On May 24, 2015 Gerrard played the last match in Liverpool. On January 7, 2015 Club MLS Los Angeles Galaxy announced a contract with Steven Gerrard. He joined the team in July 2015. In November 2016, LA Galaxy officially confirmed parting with Gerrard.
Steven is married to model Alex Curran. They have three daughters: Lilly-Ella (born on 23 February 2004), Lexie (born on 9 May 2006) and Lourdes (born on 31 October 2011).

On December 13, 2006 city council of Knowsley, Merseyside, elected Gerrard an honorary citizen of the city. He became the first person to be awarded this honor since 1988. A formal ceremony was held in 2007.
