Chris Martin – English musician
Chris Martin is a frontman, vocalist and keyboardist of the band Coldplay.
Christopher Anthony John Martin was born on March 2, 1977 in Exeter, Devon County, England. Chris was the eldest of five children into the family of accountant Anthony Martin and music teacher Alison Martin.
Martin studied at the Hilton elementary school, and then in the cathedral school in Exeter, where he formed his first musical group in 1991.
While studying at the university Martin met Jonny Buckland, Will Champion and Guy Berryman. In 1996 they formed the rock band Coldplay.
Their first mini-album Safety was released in 1998, and the first studio album Parachutes in July 2000. The album immediately took the first place in the UK charts and the group was award Grammy.
Since then, they have realised six more albums: A Rush of Blood to the Head, X & Y, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, Mylo Xyloto, Ghost Stories and A Head Full of Dreams.
The second studio album A Rush of Blood to the Head was released in August 2002and the group received two Grammy awards in 2003.
As a solo artist, Martin has written songs for various artists, including Embrace (Gravity) and Jamelia (See It in a Boy’s Eyes). In addition, Martin collaborated with Ron Sexsmith, Faultline, The Streets, and Ian McCulloch.
In late 2004 he was a part of the vocals on the single Do They Know It’s Christmas? by Band Aid 20.
In 2005, Martin worked with Nelly Furtado on her song All Good Things (Come to an End). After their joint performance in 2002, there were rumors about their love affair.
In the summer of 2006 Martin worked with the rapper Jay-Z on his album Kingdom Come.
In 2007, Martin appeared on a track Part of the Plan debut solo album by Swizz Beatz One Man Band Man. Martin also collaborated with Kanye West, they recorded the song Homecoming.
In 2009, Martin played a cameo in the film Bruno.
In 2011, Chris together with Rihanna recorded the song Princess of China.
Chris Martin said that Norwegian pop band a-ha had a strong influence on his formation. One of the most favourite songs is Hunting High and Low. It is also known that Martin imitated the style of a-ha singer Morten Harket.
U2 also strongly influenced Martin in the creativity, as well as in political opinions. The first song of the album The Unforgettable Fire A Sort of Homecoming is his favourite.
Martin is a fan of the British pop group Take That and singer Kylie Minogue.
On December 5, 2003 he married American actress Gwyneth Paltrow. On May 14, 2004 Gwyneth gave birth to their daughter Apple Blythe Alison and on April 8, 2006 their son Moses Bruce Anthony was born. In 2014, the couple decided to split.
Chris Martin used to be a vegan for a long time. However, after his breakup with Gwyneth Paltrow, he began to eat products of animal origin.
In June 2014 he began dating young actress Jennifer Lawrence. At one of his concerts the singer dedicated to her composition Atlas which, by the way, was the soundtrack for the film The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. They broke up in May 2015.
Immediately after breaking up with Lawrence Martin became interested in another actress Annabelle Wallis.
