David Copperfield – King of magic
He is probably the most successful magician in history. He started practicing magic when he was 10. At the age of 12, he became the youngest member of the Society of American Magicians. By the age of 16, he was already teaching a course in magic at New York University.
He became famous at the age of 19, when he played the leading role in the musical The Magic Man. That’s when David Kotkin chose his stage name – ‘David Copperfield’ – from the famous novel by Charles Dickens.
David has won 11 Guinness World Records and 21 Emmy Awards for his TV series. He has received a Living Legend Award from the Library of Congress and has been knighted by the French government.
He was named ‘King of magic’ by the Society of American Magicians.
Copperfield’s most popular illusions include walking through the Great Wall of China, levitating over the Grand Canyon and making the Statue of Liberty disappear.

The boy had a phenomenal memory and could remember even the text of the prayer from the first time. This ability allowed him to repeat a card trick that his grandfather showed him when the boy was four years old.
At the age of 16 Copperfield taught magic at New York University.

Personal life
They say David had a love affair with the famous German top model Claudia Schiffer. David says Claudia is his best friend and special for her he brought a beautiful and warm ushanka (Russian fur hat) from Moscow.
Model Chloe Gosselin gave birth to their daughter in April 2010. “I did not plan anything like that, but when my daughter was born, I realized that this is the most wonderful thing that I could have done!”, said David.
‘I give people the feeling that miracles can still happen’.
The secret of his success is simple – practice, practice, practice.
Creating a new illusion is like writing a song, sometimes the lyrics come first and sometimes it’s the music.
He still hopes to make the moon disappear and straighten the leaning tower of Pisa.
