Eva Longoria – actress, model and restaurateur
Eva Longoria is an American actress, model, restaurateur and television producer, best known for her role as Gabrielle Solis in the television series Desperate Housewives (2004 -2012).
Eva Jacqueline Longoria was born on March 15, 1975 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Her parents, Enrique Longoria and Ella Eva Mireles, are of Mexican origin. Eva has three elder sisters and she is the only child with dark hair, brown eyes and dark skin. Because of this she thought that she was adopted. As a child, Eve lived at the ranch. She remembered that they had 19 cats. The sisters often brought homeless kittens.
Longoria studied at Marvin P. Baker Middle School and later at Roy Miller High School in her hometown. She received a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Texas A & M University-Kingsville. During her studies she won Miss Corpus Christi in 1998. Longoria participated in a talent contest that brought her to Los Angeles. The girl was noticed and soon had her own agent.
Eva debuted in a small role of the flight attendant in an episode of “Beverly Hills, 90210” in 2000. Then she starred in daytime soap operas General Hospital, The Young and the Restless and in the TV series Dragnet created by Dick Wolf.
In 2004, Longoria got the role of Gabrielle Solis in the television series Desperate Housewives. The actress was nominated for Golden Globe as The Best Actress in a television series.
In 2006, Longoria played her first film role in the detective thriller The Guardian with Kiefer Sutherland and Michael Douglas. In the same year appeared in the film Harsh Times with Freddy Rodriguez and Christian Bale.
Eva frequently appears in magazines and commercials. She was also # 1 in the list of “hottest female celebrities” according to Maxim versions in 2005 and 2006. In 2007 she was # 9 in the list.
In 2005, she signed a contract with L’Oréal.
In 2010 Eva was a presenter of MTV Europe Music Awards ceremony.
In 2008, Longoria opened restaurant Beso in the suburbs of Los Angeles. In December 2009, she opened the second Beso in Las Vegas.
In April 2011 her first cookbook Eva’s Kitchen: Cooking with Love for Family and Friends was published.
In 2006, Longoria founded the charitable organization Eva’s Heroes, which helps children with disabilities. She is also a member of PADRES Contra El Cancer. In 2010 Eva was awarded NOBLE Prize for outstanding work in the field of charity. She also supports National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, National Stroke Association and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Longoria is also a producer of a documentary The Harvest about 500,000 migrant children who are agricultural workers in the United States.
Personal life
From 2002 to 2004 Longoria was married to the star of the TV series General Hospital actor Tyler Christopher.
On July 7, 2007 she married Tony Parker, French basketball player. They divorced on January 28, 2011.
On May 21, 2016 the actress married Mexican businessman Jose Antonio Baston.
