Katie Holmes – American actress

Katie Holmes is an American film and television actress.
Kate Noelle Holmes was born on December 18, 1978 in Toledo, Ohio. She was the youngest, the fifth child in the family. She has three sisters and a brother. Her father is a lawyer specialized in divorce cases. Katie has English, Irish and German roots. At the age of fourteen the girl began attending modeling school.
In 1996, after reading a monologue from the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, she got the role in Ang Lee’s movie The Ice Storm. In 1997 she was invited to the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but refused because she needed to finish her studies. The next year she got the lead role in the television series Dawson’s Creek which was filmed till 2003. That role brought her fame.

In 1999, Holmes played her first major film role in the movie Teaching Mrs. Tingle. The most famous film, in which Katie played one of the main characters, is Christopher Nolan’s film Batman Begins.
In 2000 she played in Wonder Boys together with Michael Douglas.
The sensational Joel Schumacher’s thriller Phone Booth appeared in 2002.
In 2005, she played the temperamental girl in the film Thank You for Smoking.
In 2008 she played touching Jackie in the melodrama Mad Money.
The actress also starred in Go (1999), Muppets from Space (1999), The Gift (2000), Abandon (2002), The Singing Detective (2003), Pieces of April (2003), First Daughter (2004), Eli Stone (2008), The Romantics (2010), The Extra Man (2010), Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark (2010), The Son of No One (2011), Jack and Jill (2011), Days and Nights (2013), Miss Meadows (2014), The Giver (2014), Woman in Gold (2015), Mania Days (2015), All We Had (2015).
Katie played the role of Jacqueline Kennedy in the films The Kennedys (2011) and The Kennedys After Camelot (2016).

Personal life
During the set of the TV series Dawson’s Creek she dated actor Joshua Jackson.
In 2000, Katie started dating Chris Klein. In 2003, they got engaged, but in early 2005 the couple broke up.
In April 2005, Holmes first appeared in public with Tom Cruise. A year later, on April 18, 2006, their daughter Suri was born. They got married on November 18, 2006 in Italy. On June 29, 2012 it was announced that Holmes filed for divorce and on August 20, 2012 they divorced.
