Kylie Minogue – Australian singer and actress
Kylie Minogue is an Australian singer, songwriter and actress. She became popular in the mid-1980s after her role in the Australian television soap opera Neighbours – even before the beginning of her career as a pop singer. Her album Fever, released in 2001, entered the top 50 best albums according to BBC version, and in 2004 she received her first Grammy statuette.
Kylie Ann Minogue was born on May 28, 1968 in Melbourne, Australia. Kylie is the eldest of three children, her sister Dannii Minogue is also a well-known pop singer.
Minogue participated in soap operas Skyways, The Sullivans and The Henderson Kids. In 1986 she began starring in the soap opera Neighbours. On the set of the series she began an affair with actor Jason Donovan.
In 1986 Minogue signed a contract with Mushroom Records. The single Locomotion spent seven weeks on the first place in the Australian music charts and became the biggest selling single of the year. She was invited to London to work with Stock, Aitken and Waterman. Her first album Kylie (a collection of dance songs) took first place in the UK album chart and became the bestselling album of the year. In late 1988, Minogue stopped acting in the TV series Neighbours to concentrate on her music career.
The duet with then-boyfriend, Jason Donovan, song Especially For You, was a major hit in the UK early 1989.
In 1989, she starred in the melodrama The Delinquents, which had a good commercial success. By the time Kylie was out of her teens she had won five Logies (the Australian equivalent of an Emmy).
In June of 1991, after the release of her 13th hit single, entitled Shocked, the British Music Week magazine declared that Kylie was the ONLY act in the history of the British pop music to have their first 13 releases all go Top 10.
In 1992 she began her relationship with Mike Hutchins, INXS lead singer. In the same year a collection The Greatest Hits was released and immediately was on the first place in the British charts.
In 1993, Minogue signed a contract with Deconstruction Records, and in 1994 her fifth solo album Kylie Minogue was released.
In 1994, she starred in the action film Street Fighter with Jean-Claude Van Dam.
In 1995, together with Nick Cave Minogue recorded the song Where The Wild Roses Grow.
In 1996, Kylie worked with the Manic Street Preachers and Nick Cave. In the same year, the singer had a brief affair with famous photographer and music video director Stephen Sadove.
In 1997, she released the seventh album Impossible Princess, which became platinum. The original name was changed in connection with the tragic death of Princess Diana.
In 1999, Minogue signed a contract with Parlophone Records. In 2000 she released her eighth album Light Years.
The album Fever, released in September 2001, brought Minogue two Brit Awards. It also was multi-platinum in the United States.
Two her songs – Come Into My World and Cannot Get You Out Of My Head – sounded in the series Charmed.
In 2001, Minogue sang in Moulin Rouge.
Her next album Body Language was released in 2003.
From 2002 to 2007, Minogue dated Olivier Martinez, who was close to the singer during her struggle with cancer.
In autumn 2007, there was an album titled X. In June 2008, Minogue for the first time gave concerts in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
On May 5, 2008 Minogue was awarded the French Order of Arts and Letters. On July 3, 2008 she received the Order of the British Empire at Buckingham Palace.
In 2010, the singer dated Andres Velenkoso. They broke up three years later.
In March 2010, Minogue was named the UK’s most influential celebrity.
In 2011, the Australian singer collaborated with Taio Cruz and began a world tour in support of her eleventh album.
In 2013, Minogue recorded a duet Limpido with Italian singer Laura Pausini. The song took the first place in Italian music charts.
In 2014 she had a love affair with 27-year-old actor Joshua Sasse. In February 2016 it was reported that the couple became engaged.
