Michael Fassbender – Irish actor
Michael Fassbender is an Irish theater, cinema and television actor, producer of German descent. He is best known for collaboration with film director Steve McQueen. Michael starred in his films Hunger, Shame and 12 Years a Slave. The actor is known as Magneto in the films X-Men: First Class, X-Men: Days of Future Past and X-Men: Apocalypse. He also starred in such films as 300, Inglourious Basterds, Jane Eyre, A Dangerous Method, Prometheus, Macbeth, Steve Jobs and TV series Band of Brothers and Agatha Christie’s Poirot. He is a winner of Volpi Cup for Best Actor (2011), has two nominations for Oscar (2014, 2016), three nominations for Golden Globe (2012, 2014, 2016), and four nominations for BAFTA Award (2009, 2012, 2014, 2016).
Michael Fassbender was born on April 2, 1977 in Heidelberg, Germany. In 1979 the family moved to the town of Killarney, where Michael’s father opened a restaurant West End House, and worked there as a chef. While still a boy, Michael was fond of playing the guitar, piano and accordion.
After college Michael went to Cork where he studied in Colaiste Stiofain Naofa. Then he studied at Drama Centre London but left it. Later Fassbender was able to go on tour with the play Three Sisters by Oxford Stage Company.
He starred in the video for The Cooper Temple Clause’s song Blind Pilots.
Fassbender’s first role was the role of Sergeant Burton Christenson in the popular miniseries Band of Brothers.
In 2008, for his role in the movie Hunger the actor had to lose weight from 77 to 58 kilograms. Then Quentin Tarantino invited Fassbender to star in his movie Inglourious Basterds. At the age of 30 Michael received the award for Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival.
On September 10, 2011 Michael received the Volpi Cup for Best Actor for his role in the film Shame.
In 2014 he was the first time in his career nominated for Oscar and won numerous awards for his role of sadistic slave owner in the historical drama 12 Years a Slave.
In 2016 he was nominated for Oscar again for his role as the founder of Apple Steve Jobs in Danny Boyle’s film Steve Jobs. He was awarded the IFTA Award and other awards.
Personal life
Since the end of 2010 to summer 2011 he dated Zoe Kravitz (who is 11 years younger), daughter of Lenny Kravitz. They played together in the film X-Men: First Class.
From June 2012 to January 2013 the actor was together with American actress Nicole Behari.
In 2014 he had a relationship with Italian model and actress Madalina Ghenea.
Currently Fassbender has a relationship with actress Alicia Vikander.
