Spielberg was born on December 18, 1946 into a family of a computer scientist and a gifted pianist. The boy spent his early childhood in New Jersey and, later, in Arizona. At the age of 11 Spielberg got his father’s camera and began shooting short films about flying saucers and World War II battles.
When Steven was 13 he won a competition with his 40-minute film Escape to Nowhere. His film Firelight was shown at the local cinema when young producer was only 16.
In 1975 Spielberg created Jaws and a real success came to him. This fish tale became the hit and opened up the doors for Spielberg to work on many more great projects.

His films made him one of the most financially successful filmmakers ever. Talented people are talented in everything. Spielberg is not only famous producer but also an entrepreneur. His business empire includes video games, toys and even restaurants.

In his childhood Spielberg was afraid of everything. Probably that’s why he put this scary stuff into his films. Even today he is afraid of airplanes, elevators and closed-in places.
…The great white shark silently approaches the unsuspecting swimmer. The audience is frozen with horror… In a moment those huge teeth will snap shut and pull the victim under waves.
When the shark was built, it was never water tested, so when it was put in the water, shark sank straight to the ocean floor.

Spielberg reconstructed the dinosaurs to perfection. Tyrannosaurus Rex is the biggest – 7 metres high and weighs 1500 kilos. Because of Spielberg’s perfectionism, this is one of the most expensive films in the history of cinema (it cost more than 70 million dollars).
