Gareth David-Lloyd – Welsh actor

Gareth David-Lloyd is a Welsh actor best known for his role as Yanto Jones in the British sci-fi series Torchwood.
The future actor was born on March 28, 1981 in Newport, Wales, United Kingdom. He first appeared on stage as a robot in a school production, and as a teenager joined the troupe of the Gwent Young People’s Theater in Abergavenny. And later he joined the troupe of The Dolman Youth Theater in Newport. There he worked with actor Matthew Woodyatt and singer Nia Lynn. You know, there he took part in several productions, and in Macbeth, Threepenny Opera and King Henry V played the main roles. When former Labor leader Neil Kinnock saw young Gareth in a performance at Monmouth Castle, he sent him £ 250 to develop his acting career.
While attending Coleg Gwent Gareth appeared in various local productions at the Dolman Theater in Newport and the Sherman Theater in Cardiff.
Before moving to Reading to continue his acting studies at The Rep College, Gareth completed an internship at the National Youth Theater. Among others, he played the role of Sebastian in the Twelfth Night production, and also took part in the television shows Absolute Power, Catastrophe, Rosemary & Thyme and A Very English Murder.

Gareth returned to Wales to star in the TV series Torchwood, where he played Yanto Jones. The character has been named an icon by the television website Digital Spy. In addition to the Torchwood series, Yanto Jones also appeared in two Doctor Who episodes – The Stolen Earth and Journey’s End. It is noteworthy that in 2004 in the comedy / drama Mine All Mine, written by the creator of the TV series Torchwood Russell T. Davis, Gareth played a character named Yanto Jones.
In addition to acting, Gareth studied philosophy and psychology at the Open University for one year as a volunteer.
Also Gareth recorded an audiobook of Lovecraft’s short stories called Cthulhu and Other Stories.
By the way, he is the leader and vocalist of the progressive metal band Blue Gillespie (formerly known as A Breath of Blue Fire). In December 2008 they recorded first EP Cave Country and the second EP Cave Country Part 2 was recorded in August 2009. Their debut album Synesthesia was released in May 2010 and in May 2012 they recorded their second album Seven Rages of Man.
Gareth admires Welsh poet Dylan Thomas and even played him in one of his very first productions.

Personal life
The Welsh actor married Gemma James in 2010. The couple have a daughter, Lily Christina Lloyd (born on June 4, 2012) and a son, Eli Andrew Lloyd (born on August 10, 2014).
