Matt Damon – American actor and producer
Matt Damon is an American actor, producer and screenwriter. He is a winner of Oscar and Golden Globe in the category Best original screenplay for the film Good Will Hunting (1997) (together with Ben Affleck). He was nominated for Oscar in 1997, 2009 and 2016.
The most famous films with Matt Damon are drama Good Will Hunting (1997), Saving Private Ryan (1998), Dogma (1999), crime drama The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999); three parts of the Ocean’s adventures: Ocean’s Eleven (2001), Ocean’s Twelve (2004), Ocean’s Thirteen (2007); Jason Bourne trilogy, The Bourne Identity (2002), The Bourne Supremacy (2004) and The Bourne Ultimatum (2007); as well as the films The Departed (2006) and The Martian (2015).
Matthew Paige Damon was born on October 8, 1970 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. His father, Kent Damon (born in 1943) was a tax inspector, and his mother, Nancy Carlsson-Paige was a University professor. Matt has elder brother Kyle (born in 1967), who became a sculptor.
His parents divorced in 1973, so he and his brother were brought up by their mother in Cambridge. The future actor grew up in the house where five other families lived. One of his neighbors was historian Howard Zinn, author of the book A People’s History of the United States, which Matt mentioned in his film Good Will Hunting.
In 1978, at the age of 8, Matt met Ben Affleck. Even then they became the best friends.
In 1986, Matt went to New York where the future actor was able to appear in the TJ Maxx commercial.
In 1996, he appeared in the film Courage Under Fire with Denzel Washington and Meg Ryan.
Together with Ben Affleck they continued writing the script for the film Good Will Hunting which they started in Princeton. This film brought Damon and Affleck Oscar for best screenplay.
In 1998 he played in the movie Saving Private Ryan by Steven Spielberg. In 1999, he together with Affleck starred in the comedy Dogma about two fallen angels directed by Kevin Smith and The Talented Mr. Ripley directed by Anthony Minghella with Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law.
Currently he has 19 awards and 43 nominations.
While studying in high school he dated Skylar Satenstein, who later became the prototype of the character in the film Good Will Hunting.
During 1997, he dated several well-known women such as actresses Minnie Driver and Claire Danes.
On December 31, 1997 Matt began a relationship with famous actress Winona Ryder. They were together until the spring of 2000.
In 2001 the actor began dating Billy Bob Thornton and Ben Affleck’s personal assistant Odessa Whitmire. In autumn 2003 they broke up.
Matt Damon is married to Argentinian Luciana Bozan Barroso (born in 1976). They met in 2003 in Miami, where Luciana worked as a bartender. The wedding took place on December 9, 2005 in New York. On June 11, 2006 their daughter Isabella was born. On August 20, 2008 their second daughter was born. In October 2010 Luciana gave birth to their third daughter. Luciana also has daughter Alexis (born in 1999) from her first marriage.
