Rosamund Pike – English actress
Rosamund Pike is an English actress, known primarily thanks to her roles in the films Die Another Day (one of the James Bond films), The Libertine, Promised Land, Barney’s Version and Pride and Prejudice. Her breakthrough was in 2014 in the detective thriller Vanished and the actress received a number of awards.
Rosamund Pike was born on January 27, 1979 in London. She is the only child into a family of opera singers Julian and Caroline Pike. Rosamund attended boarding school in Bristol. At the age of 16 she joined famous National Youth Theatre, where she played for three seasons. Her most significant role in this theater was the role of Juliet in the play Romeo and Juliet.
Then Rosamund entered Wadham College at Oxford University to study English literature. There she became friends with Chelsea Clinton.
Rosamund quite successfully participated in several student theater productions, went on tour with the production of the student theater The Taming of the Shrew. Shortly before graduation, she played with Tom Courtenay and Albert Finney in the television movie A Rather English Marriage. She played in the local theater, the famous Oxford Playhouse – in plays by Stephen Jeffreys The Libertine and Arthur Miller’s All My Sons. Even before entering Oxford Rosamund took part in the casting, but at that time the project was not realized. A year later, she suddenly received an invitation to return and as a result received a role of Lady Herriet in the BBC film Wives and Daughters, where her partners were Michael Gambon, Francesca Annis and Bill Patterson. Later she starred in the film Love in a Cold Climate based on Nancy Mitford’s work.
In 2001, the actress completed her studies and concentrated on her acting career. Rosamund starred in a number of world famous films; in addition, she remains active on the stage.
In 2002, the actress became a “Bond Girl”, having played in the movie Die Another Day with Pierce Brosnan.
In 2011, Pike played a major role in the action-comedy Johnny English Reborn.
Personal life
Rosamund, in addition to her native English, is fluent in two languages – German and French. She plays the cello and the piano.
From 1997 to 2003 she dated actor Simon Woods and in 2004 artist John Henry was her partner.
In 2004 Pike began dating with director Joe Wright. They met on the set of the movie Pride and Prejudice, in which she played the role of Jane Bennett and Wright acted as director. In late August 2007, they announced their engagement, but soon the couple announced the separation.
Since December 2009 Rosamund has been in a relationship with mathematician and businessman Robie Uniacke. They have two sons Solo (born on May 6, 2012) and Atom (born on December 2, 2014).
