Steven Seagal – American actor and producer
Steven Seagal is an American film actor, film producer, screenwriter, film director, musician (often lead guitarist), sheriff and martial arts master (7th Dan Aikido).
Steven Frederic Seagal was born on April 10, 1952 in Michigan. His father, Samuel Steven Seagal (1928-1991), was a math teacher, and his mother, Patricia Segal (nee Duffy, 1930-2003), worked at the hospital. His paternal grandparents Nathan Siegelman (August 3, 1893, Minsk – 1973) and Dora Goldstein (1894 – 1989) came to America from St. Petersburg and changed their surname Siegelman to Seagal. Stephen was the second child in the family. He has an elder and two younger sisters. In 1957 the family moved to Fullerton (California).
At the age of seven the boy was engaged in karate. 15-year-old Steven met Kyoshi Isisaki, the master of Aikido, and became his best student. At the age of 17 he decided to move to Japan. In the early 1970s, he met Japanese woman named Miyako Fujitani, who became the mother of his first two children: a son and a daughter. In 1975, Seagal became the first American to open a dojo in Japan.
In June 2013 at the G8 summit, Russian President Vladimir Putin at a personal meeting with US President Barack Obama proposed the appointment of Steven Seagal Honorary Consul of Russia in California and Arizona, but this proposal was not supported.
On January 12, 2016 Steven received the honorary citizenship of Serbia and on November 3, 2016 he received Russian citizenship.
In 1982, already in Japan, Steven first got into the movie business. It happened in Kyoto. Steven was invited by Onoha Ittoro to take part in filming as an expert on Japanese fencing.
In late 1985, during another trip to Japan, Seagal met actress and model Kelly Le Brock, and they began dating. In September 1987, Steven married Kelly.
Seagal’s first role was in the film Above the Law. In 1990, he starred in the film Hard to Kill with his wife Kelly Le Brock. In 1991, he played in Out for Justice filmed in Brooklyn, New York.
In 1994 Warner Brothers asked Seagal to become the director of the film On Deadly Ground.
In late 1994 Steven and Kelly’s marriage fell apart. The reason was 16-year-old nanny of their children Orissa Woolf. Steven fell in love with her. In 1996, Orissa, who became the third wife of the actor, gave birth to their daughter.
In 2000 he was a producer of the film Prince of Central Park.
In 2001 he starred in Ticker and Exit Wounds. In 2003 Steven started shooting a long-planned film about Japan, where he used part of his biography. The film was released in 2004, with two other low-budget thrillers Belly of the Beast and Out of Reach.
Currently, the actor is married to Erdenetuya Batsukh, a professional dancer, a native of Mongolia.
In September 2009, 58-year-old actor became father for the seventh time.
On August 13, 2015 Seagal attended a press conference of the world professional boxing champion Sergey Kovalev.
