Nicole Kidman – Australian and American actress
Nicole Kidman is an Australian and American actress, singer and producer. She was a winner of Oscar in 2003 for her role in The Hours (the first actress from Australia to receive the award in Best Actress category). Nicole also received three Golden Globe awards (1996, 2002, 2003).
Nicole Mary Kidman was born on June 20, 1967 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Her parents were born in Australia. For a while Nicole’s father worked as a specialist in the study of cancer cells in the Washington, DC, USA. When the future actress was 4 years old, her family moved back to Australia: Nicole’s father got a job at the Technical University of Sydney. She has a younger sister – Antonia Kidman (born in 1970) – journalist and television presenter.
At the age of four Nicole started practicing ballet. Passion for dance led her to the Australian Theatre for Young People and then to Philip Street Theater. Nicole had to leave school as her mother fell ill with breast cancer, and the girl was forced to devote herself to the care of the family.
