Pink – Alecia Beth Moore
Alecia Beth Moore, better known under the name Pink (or P!nk) is an American singer, songwriter and actress, who became popular in the early 2000, after the release of the album Can’t Take Me Home. According to End Decade Hit Parade of the American magazine Billboard Pink is the best pop artist from 2000 to 2010. She also was on the 10th place in the top twenty in Billboard Hot 100, won three Grammy awards, five MTV Video Music Awards and two Brit Awards.
Alecia Beth Moore was born on September 8, 1979 in Abington, Pennsylvania. He mother Judith Moore was a nurse and her father James Moore, Jr. was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Alecia grew up in Doylestown, where she attended Kutz elementary school, Lenape secondary school and Central Bucks West High School. Her father played the guitar and sang songs for her, and from an early age she aspired to be a rock star. Pink has a brother Jason Moore (born in 1983).
At high school, Moore joined her first group Middleground. According to Pink, Bette Midler, Janis Joplin, Aerosmith, Bob Dylan, Madonna, Whitney Houston, Billy Joel, Indigo Girls, Donald McLean, 2Pac and The Notorious B.I.G. had the strongest influence on her.
Moore received her nickname at school. It is associated not with her hair color, but the fact that she was often embarrassed and often blushed.
She began performing in Philadelphia clubs when she was 14 years old.
At the age of 16 Moore together with Chrissy Conway and Sharon Flanagan created R&B-group Choice. Their first song was Key to My Heart. The girls sent the copy to LaFace Records in Atlanta and signed a contract. The group moved to Atlanta and recorded an album, and then their song Key to My Heart appeared as the soundtrack for the film Kazaam in 1996. Choice broke up in 1998.
In 2000 Pink began her solo career.
Her first album Can’t Take Me Home was released on LaFace Records and it was successful. Her next album Missundaztood was recorded in 2001 in pop-rock style and was also successful worldwide. Pink released her third album Try This in November 2003. For the single Trouble she received a Grammy Award in the category Best Female Rock –song. Her 4th album I’m Not Dead was released in 2006. Her singles Stupid Girls, U + Ur Hand and Who Knew were at the top of charts. Her 5th album Funhouse was released in late October 2008. Her songs So What, Sober, Please Do not Leave Me and Glitter in the Air hit the top twenty.
On October 4, 2009 her music could be heard in one of the Australian Idol episodes.
In 2012 she released The Truth About Love and the album immediately debuted with the first line of the Billboard 200. It also topped the charts in Australia, Austria, Canada, Germany, New Zealand, Sweden and Switzerland, becoming the sixth best-selling album in the world in 2012. The album also was nominated for the 55th ceremony of Grammy in the category Best Pop Vocal Album.
In 2013 Pink was named Woman of the Year by Billboard.
In September 2014 it was announced that Pink teamed up with the lead singer of City And Colour, Dallas Green. Their duet was called You + Me. The debut album of the duo Rose Ave was released on October 14, 2014. It started with the first place in Canada, and made debut in the top ten of several countries.
On April 15, 2016 Pink released the single Just Like Fire, written specifically for the movie Alice in Wonderland.
In 2016, Pink wrote the song Recovering for Celine Dion.
Pink is a vegetarian, the famous member of PETA organization. She sent a letter to Prince William criticizing him for fox hunting and one to Queen Elizabeth II against fur bearskin shako.
Pink is involved in many charities: Phoenix vert, Human Rights Campaign, ONE Campaign, Prince’s Trust, New York Restoration Project, Run for the Cure Foundation, Save the Children, Take Back the Night, UNICEF and the World Society for the Protection of Animals. Since May 2008, Pink officially became RSPCA defender in Australia.
On February 16, 2009 Pink announced that she donated $ 250,000 to the Red Cross Bushfire Appeal, to help the victims of the forest fire.
Personal life
Pink dated professional racer Carey Hart at the 2001 X Games in Philadelphia. Hart appeared in music video for Pink’s song Just Like a Pill. In 2005 Pink made a marriage proposal to Hart during races in Mammoth Lakes, California. She hold a sign with the words “Will you marry me?”. On the other side it was written “I’m not joking!” On January 7, 2006 they got married in Costa Rica.
In 2008 the couple broke up. In March 2009, Carey Hart admitted in an interview that he dated Pink.
On February 5, 2010 Pink announced that she and her husband Carey were together again.
On June 2, 2011 Alecia gave birth to a daughter who was named Willow Sage Hart.
